You don't know what you don't know... neither did he

I talked to a guy recently who was in his sixties, top of his career and miserable. He had no more mountains to climb, no new hills to take and everything felt pretty meaningless. So his wife bought him a guitar. He had never been musical, but she knew he liked listening to the old rock classics.

And something happened.

He loved it. Every bit of it. The smell of the rosewood rubbing off on his hands, the vibrations running through his chest, the sound filling the room, even the pain of the callouses on his fingers made him feel alive.

He said now he shows up every day to work as his best self. He's motivated, relaxed and joyful. All because he picked up the guitar a little bit each day.

And he's not alone. Many students are finding that the right coach, a consistent community, and our stupid simple method are the way to fast-track their playing and build a manageable daily routine that doesn't let you down.

Jam soon,

JB

Born to Run had made him a phenomenon. The world was waiting to see what he'd do next. Then, almost overnight, everything stopped. A legal dispute with his manager Mike Appel over the direction of his career had been building f...
He waited too long
"I'm sorry but I have to put the guitar down for good." Words he never thought he’d say, but were true. This was a student of mine last year who had always said “one day I’ll pick up the guitar” and kept putting his career ahead of his dream.  Unfortunately by the time “one day” rolled around and he was retired arthritis had set in so badly that within a few weeks the pain was unbearable. My h...
Playing music with others does something to you...
I'll never forget recording my first full length album.  My wife and I funded the entire thing ourselves. Flew my buddy from London to Cincinnati to play drums on it. Hired a professional cellist to compose and record on six of the ten songs. Brought in so many friends to sing or play random parts. For three straight weeks I locked myself inside the cathedral where this studio was housed. Each ...
