What is a summer sprint?

May 22, 2026

Maybe it's just me, but every summer I want to tackle new songs, learn new licks, climb new mountains with just my guitar on my back and have a meditative moment with me and my girl (yes, my guitar is female).

And I hear this a lot from beginner guitarists over 50 that, while the rest of the year can be a bit crazy, summer is a time they can devote 15 minutes a day consistently to playing their favorite songs.

So I thought... why not do a Summer Sprint?

90 days... coaching, community and coursework all calendared out to finally learn to make your girl sing.

Is it going to be the most illuminating thing you've ever done?

Probably not, but is it going to get you playing your favorite songs fast and easy?

Heck yes it is.

So if you're interested smash this button HERE and get on my VIP list (closes tomorrow) and you will be invited to an exclusive event (36 hours before my public launch) next Thursday evening, May 28th.

Why a separate event?

Because I've only got 21 spots for the June cohort and we've got 5,000 beginner guitarists invited to the public event that next Saturday.

I'm looking forward to it.

See you VIP-ers Thursday.

Jam soon,

-JB

"Close your eyes and forget about the notes," I whispered.
have you ever had that thing happen where your head gets in the way? you're trying so hard to get it just right, just perfect that you end up stressed and with an anything-but-perfect outcome?  this happens all the time in music.  i remember recording my first full-length album years ago. it cost me all my savings at the time, but i had a dream to be a real songwriter and get my songs out into ...
My first snapped string (+ other reasons to play live)
I remember playing a show in Iowa. I had never heard of Ragbrai before, but you never forget performing for tens of thousands of bicyclists on a multi-day ride.  My friend was the star. I was there as second guitar and backup vocals. A local band was providing bass, drums and keys and I was supposed to keep them up to speed with the keys and the transitions so during the first song when one of ...
