Joni had as many tunings as there are states in the USA?

I love reading up on how the best songwriters approached the guitar. Because very few of them approached it the same! 

Take Joni Mitchell, for example. She 

"All in all, there are upwards of 50 unique tunings in Mitchell's repertoire," wrote a Joni expert earlier this year. 

50 tunings!?!?

I find that remarkable. Not just because Joni is a musical genius - because she is!

But I find it remarkable because most beginner guitarists think there's only one or two ways to tune a guitar. And maybe that's the reason 90% quit in their first year.

That's why we start all of our beginner-intermediate students with a unique tuning that was a favorite of many of the greats - Joni included.

Because often times the problem isn't too big to handle, there's just a much easier way to solve it.
