What Did Joni Have That's Missing Today?

Joni Mitchell had something that we've lost today.

Courage.

The courage to put herself out there - flaws and all.

You watch videos of her playing guitar and she keeps things very simple. You hear recordings of her singing and she's all over the place pitch-wise yet it's a beautifully human sound you can't help but be drawn to. And she knows it - it's why she laughs at the end of most of her performances.

She knew it wasn't perfect, but it didn't stop her from putting herself out there.

Most of us have lost that type of courage.

We lost it in...

⌧ HGTV level expectations

⌧ Pinterest perfection

⌧ Smart Phones airbrushing away our wrinkles

⌧ Auto-tune on the radio

⌧ Every marketer lying about how some people, people who make them money, are perfect.

But that's false.

Joni was right. It's okay to be human and humans are imperfect.

So if you're worried that you gotta be perfect at the guitar before you try. Go listen to Joni. And notice... she uses the same method that we teach in our Closet Rockstars Course.

I'm not saying you'll be the next musical sensation if you join our students but I am saying you'll feel free. Free to make mistakes. Free to correct them quickly. Free to enjoy and play your heart out no matter who is listening, because that's what music does - it gives you permission to not care about how you look or sound to the outside world.

Book a call today at the link below to see if you're ready to join us in January.

It's going to be an incredible month of guitar jamming and I'd hate for you to miss it!

Check out our method and let's get you rocking and rolling, friend!

Don't let fear keep you from the guitar any longer.

Jam soon,
JB

He was called "god" at 25. His greatest work came at 46.
There's a version of Eric Clapton's story that most people know. The prodigy. The legend. The man whose fans spray-painted "Clapton is god" on the walls of London Underground stations in the 1960s when he was barely in his mid-twenties. The guitarist who played on Beatles records, formed Cream, wrote Layla, and became the only musician ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three sep...
The guitar in the closet
There's a particular kind of person I love working with. They've done everything right. Built a career over 35 years that most people would envy. Retired with financial security, the freedom to travel, maybe a sports car in the driveway and a pilot's license to boot. By every conventional measure, they've won. And yet there's still one thing sitting in the closet... or the corner of the spare b...
What does B-ball have to do with playing the Guitar after 60?
It's March in 'Merica thus no one escapes the NCAA B-ball Tournament known as March Madness.  A lot of times we label ourselves as "jocks" or "musicians" or "you-name-it". But the reality is that we are more than our labels and a good game can be enjoyed by a good guitarist and vice versa.  Take last night's game for instance.  #2 seed UConn against #1 seed Duke.   Most of the country had Duke ...
