This Quote Alone Has Motivated Me More & More As A Person & As A Guitarist

In his masterful novella, The Little Prince, Antoine De Saint-Exupery writes a very powerful quote which says,

"If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea."

I can't tell you the amount of times I just rush into practicing licks, chords, scales, technique and so on, and forget to take a moment and imagine the dream - why did I pick up a guitar in the first place? What goal am I laboring towards?

Naming your "why" is extremely important. Why do you want to learn the guitar?

Is it because you had a childhood fascination with it? Or because someone you looked up to played? Is it because you want to stay sharp and push yourself to achieve new heights? Or is it because you have songs you wanna play and you don't want to always bring technology with you? Or maybe it's because you want to start your first band later in life!

Whatever your reason - writing it down and keeping it in front of you daily will help.

My why right now is my family.

I have a wife and four young kids.

They love jamming together.

They love writing songs together.

They love hearing songs I'm working on.

It's an incredible bond we share.

As we approach the holidays I'd love to give you similar experiences with your friends and family.

That's why I'm throwing a Black Friday Party on Zoom on November 28th at 11am EST. And you're invited!

We're going to be giving away some amazing prizes (check out the page for details), serious bonuses and an incredible DISCOUNT on our Closet Rockstars Course + Coaching/Community App.

Sign up HERE and mark your calendars to come and sit at the sea with me and imagine what could be possible in your musical journey.

Jam soon,

JB

He was called "god" at 25. His greatest work came at 46.
There's a version of Eric Clapton's story that most people know. The prodigy. The legend. The man whose fans spray-painted "Clapton is god" on the walls of London Underground stations in the 1960s when he was barely in his mid-twenties. The guitarist who played on Beatles records, formed Cream, wrote Layla, and became the only musician ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three sep...
The guitar in the closet
There's a particular kind of person I love working with. They've done everything right. Built a career over 35 years that most people would envy. Retired with financial security, the freedom to travel, maybe a sports car in the driveway and a pilot's license to boot. By every conventional measure, they've won. And yet there's still one thing sitting in the closet... or the corner of the spare b...
What does B-ball have to do with playing the Guitar after 60?
It's March in 'Merica thus no one escapes the NCAA B-ball Tournament known as March Madness.  A lot of times we label ourselves as "jocks" or "musicians" or "you-name-it". But the reality is that we are more than our labels and a good game can be enjoyed by a good guitarist and vice versa.  Take last night's game for instance.  #2 seed UConn against #1 seed Duke.   Most of the country had Duke ...
